Photo Story

The lovely Tracy at Then I Got to Thinking tagged me in a great post. Before I start, check out her blog if you haven't already. You'll love her! (Thank you, Tracy)

So here are the rules...
* Open my first photo folder
* Scroll down to the 10th photo
* Post that photo and story on my blog
* Tag five friends to do the same

Ok, I opened my folder and this is honestly the 10th photo that came up. I thought about cheating a little and finding another one, but that wouldn't be honest, so here it is my loves! I'll try to make some lemonaide out of this possible lemon!

Just as a reference: in the lower left corner you can see the War of the Worlds set (that is an airplane on its side) where Tom Cruise runs through during a "desolate town scene"; off to the right of that set (mid, lower pic) you can see the famous Psycho house; the area burning is right by the Clock Tower used in Back to the Future, Bruce Almighty, etc.

I took this picture of the Universal back lot when it was on fire last year here in Los Angeles. We were called to do a newscast from a hill above Universal, and as you can see, all of the media ended up there. Needless to say, it was a little crowded on a very small road, so I had to use some inner strength to not completely lose focus and freak out. Heights are not exactly my cup of tea!

Regardless, I remember watching the media frenzy going on around me and all I could think about were the happy memories I had with my family going on the back lot tour as a little girl. I grew up in a relatively small town and I've always had dreams that were larger than life. Going to Universal Studios and seeing the movie sets is one of the first things that I remember giving me the special feeling inside that I wanted to live in Los Angeles and become a part of the wonderful entertainment industry. *Yes, I said wonderful*

Right after I turned 18 I moved to LA to go to college while fulfilling my dream and haven't really looked back. Being in this industry allows me to be a part of a special group of people that have the ability to make someone's day and give them an outlet to take a break from the reality of everyday life. Whether we create a 22-minute sitcom to make you laugh, write a feature length movie to whisk you away, or produce a small segment that provides you with lifesaving tips- we work day and night, essentially, to give you that window to escape through.

Maybe I will feel differently about my industry after working for the next 30 years, but as of now, I am truly in love with this little thing we call entertainment.

So that is my story. The end :)

...and YOU!
