Weekend Plans to Include 'The Maxi'

Tues. June 30, 2009-

Hey Everyone

I'm writing this note because for the past few days Blogger hasn't let me post anything new, so I am working day and night to figure out this problem! The only way I am able to reach you is by editing an old post like I am now. If anyone has had the same issue with Blogger I would love to know how you went about fixing it. Thank you so much for checking the blog daily- I am having blogging withdrawals and cannot wait to get this fixed! Meanwhile, I am enjoying read your posts!

XO,
Annemarie

I had such a fun post planned for you today, but sadly it will have to wait for next week because I had too many things on my plate today and I just totally failed as a blogger :(

Moving on- good and bad news. Good news first: we are heading to Vegas this weekend for the boyfriend's birthday! I'm looking forward to spending time with his family and getting out of this media frenzy for a little while. Bad news: Yesterday I was on a location shoot, which meant my eating schedule was completely off, and, needless to say -after a long day of eating horrible foods sporadically- I feel completely bloated; sausage fingers and all. Gross, I know. So, instead of posting cute little outfits that I wanted to wear this weekend in Vegas, here is my unplanned Plan B in two words: MAXI DRESS!

These are my faves- all from the lovely J Crew:

Ok, what are your plans this weekend? I always look forward to reading about the fun things everyone does! I am such a homebody, so I live vicariously through you! Hope you have a restful and relaxing few days! P.s. I'm excited to read all of your posts that I missed out on yesterday :) xo

Summertime Inspired

I love these fun colored eye shadows from Urban Decay. I matched them with some ultra summer-y (Is that even a word?! It is today!) photos to get everyone in the mood for the glorious season that lies ahead!

I never really stray from my go-to light brown and grey shadows, but after seeing what fun colors are available this season, I may have to spice it up a little! What is your favorite eye color(s) to wear?!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Part Deux

My undying love for large fancy mirrors has no boundaries; gaudy, simple, large, small- I can never get enough of them! I've done a mirror set before, but since I've been looking like a mad woman for a new one, I thought I would put together another. Take a look at this new set of fan-tab-U-lous mirrors that I am adding to my wish list as we speak...or read! Ha!

I am loving the large mirror used as a headboard in the first photo! Favorite!

Do you have any suggestions as to where I can look for mirrors that won't break the bank? I'd love to know!

Photo Story

The lovely Tracy at Then I Got to Thinking tagged me in a great post. Before I start, check out her blog if you haven't already. You'll love her! (Thank you, Tracy)

So here are the rules...
* Open my first photo folder
* Scroll down to the 10th photo
* Post that photo and story on my blog
* Tag five friends to do the same

Ok, I opened my folder and this is honestly the 10th photo that came up. I thought about cheating a little and finding another one, but that wouldn't be honest, so here it is my loves! I'll try to make some lemonaide out of this possible lemon!

Just as a reference: in the lower left corner you can see the War of the Worlds set (that is an airplane on its side) where Tom Cruise runs through during a "desolate town scene"; off to the right of that set (mid, lower pic) you can see the famous Psycho house; the area burning is right by the Clock Tower used in Back to the Future, Bruce Almighty, etc.

I took this picture of the Universal back lot when it was on fire last year here in Los Angeles. We were called to do a newscast from a hill above Universal, and as you can see, all of the media ended up there. Needless to say, it was a little crowded on a very small road, so I had to use some inner strength to not completely lose focus and freak out. Heights are not exactly my cup of tea!

Regardless, I remember watching the media frenzy going on around me and all I could think about were the happy memories I had with my family going on the back lot tour as a little girl. I grew up in a relatively small town and I've always had dreams that were larger than life. Going to Universal Studios and seeing the movie sets is one of the first things that I remember giving me the special feeling inside that I wanted to live in Los Angeles and become a part of the wonderful entertainment industry. *Yes, I said wonderful*

Right after I turned 18 I moved to LA to go to college while fulfilling my dream and haven't really looked back. Being in this industry allows me to be a part of a special group of people that have the ability to make someone's day and give them an outlet to take a break from the reality of everyday life. Whether we create a 22-minute sitcom to make you laugh, write a feature length movie to whisk you away, or produce a small segment that provides you with lifesaving tips- we work day and night, essentially, to give you that window to escape through.

Maybe I will feel differently about my industry after working for the next 30 years, but as of now, I am truly in love with this little thing we call entertainment.

So that is my story. The end :)

...and YOU!

Headboard Envy

*Not sure if that post title reads right, ha!*

So, one of my good friends just did a complete bedroom makeover after a bad break up with her live-in boyfriend of 6 years and let me just tell you, it is gorgeous! Disclaimer: she gave me the a-okay to write about her on here. I'm a good friend, promise! Let me just say, she went from living in an
Abercrombie & Fitch-meets-rustic deer hunting lodge apartment (can you say so-not-even-close-to-chic) to creating her own, everyday glamorous palace! You go girl! Anyway, after seeing her new place and bedroom, I must admit, I am completely having headboard envy. I don't have a picture of hers (didn't want to whip out the camera during girl talk) but I found some other really fabulous headboards that I wouldn't mind putting in my own bedroom!

(K)olorful Kitchens

The sun is finally out in LA (after a few not-so-cheery weeks of June Gloom) and I am loving every minute of it! So, what goes better with a bright sunny day than a gorgeous set of (k)olorful kitchens? I think nothing!

Pics: Living

I don't know if I could be so bold as to design my kitchen with such bright colors, but I am really loving all of the vibrancy these colors bring to each space!

Do you have any colorful furniture pieces, appliances, or art in your kitchen? I'd love to hear :)

It's Khaki Wishes and Cookie Dreams

*It's time for name that post title! Ha! I know some of you out there are true TBH fans- best.movie.ever!*

Lately I've been addicted to everything within the beige/khaki/cream hues. I bought a few beige dresses last month for some events and now I am addicted. From tops to dresses, photos to home decor pieces- I definitely can't get beige off my mind! Here are a few of my current favorite pieces, matched with some lovely fashion photos.

P.S. My lovely friend over at The Beauty File let me in on a little secret: Saks 5th Ave. is currently having a 60% OFF shoe sale! I went over to the site as soon as I heard the news- great deals my loves! So first, head over to The Beauty File for your daily dose of delightful things, and then take a peek at the sale!

Boutique Bathroom

I think I'm in love...in love with free standing bathtubs! Can you imagine getting ready for your day in one of these gorgeous spaces? I think I'd probably move my entire house into my bathroom and just live in there!

I have to admit- I never knew pink bathtubs were available for purchase! Hmm...rethinking my savings plan now!

Monday Motivation + {100th Post)

Hello my lovely's. Hope you had a restful and relaxing weekend! I've been working on creating a new design myself for Brunch at Saks for a while now, and since this is my first little milestone, I thought I would debut the look today. So, ta-da...here it is. I've been so nervous/anxious/excited to show you- please feel free to leave me feedback, good or bad! If anyone is looking to change up their own blog a little, feel free to email me- I'd love to work with you!

A little motivation for the week ahead:

Happy Weekend

We made it through another week! Hope you have a chance to relax this weekend and can spend time with your loves, family, friends, pets, and anything else your heart desires! Here is what I'll be up to:

A little photo-lovin': All pics by my favorite/ the best photographer, Max Wanger.

Finishing a mag stack that is piled high next to my bed and catching up on all of your blogs that I missed during the week.

Giving the heels a break and wearing flats everywhere!

Hoping for a beach day.

Attempting to cook some new recipes for dinner. Have any summer dishes that you care to share?! I'm desperate for some new ideas!

Finishing up my small patio garden since the LA forecast says sunny! (This pic does not correlate well, but I just loved it)

I'm so excited for Monday! It will be my 100th post (I know this is minuscule compared to most of your amazing blogs) and I can't wait to share something with you!

Ok, any plans for this weekend? I'd love to hear! XO

Meticulously Crafted Ceilings

I was flipping through some home mags last night and I noticed one thing they all have in common: creative ceilings! I love that architects and builders alike pay attention to detail above, because I honestly think the ceilings in a home can change its entire feel. We have medium height ceilings right now, but my dream is to one day have extremely high ceilings so we can fit a Macys-sized Christmas tree right in the middle!

So with creative ceilings in mind, I found the portfolio of charming photographer, Eric Roth. I love the way Roth captures the essence of these meticulously crafted ceilings. Beautiful.

Oh to dream :)
