Croc Embossed Handbags

Yesterday I headed over to Macy's to use a gift card and found myself debating between a Jessica Simpson handbag, Steve Madden heels, and Coach flats. Since I normally use my Gucci or Coach bags for everyday use, I decided to change it up and bought this fun Jessica Simpson handbag (not the best quality pic, sorry):

While shopping I noticed a ton of designers using Croc embossed material (actually the bag I bought said it is faux 'Anaconda'- ha!) so I thought I would put together some of my favorite bags from this trend!

Jessica Simpson $128- on sale for $71

Rampage $93- on sale for $55

For additional items, check out these really cute Tory Burch snake embossed flats or this great Marc Jacobs Croc clutch.

I'm not sure how long this trend will last (maybe I'm late to the game and it's already on its way out) but for now I think it's fun!

Edgy Elegant Bridal Wear

It seems like everyone I know is getting married these days! I am going to my cousin's wedding next weekend, one in September, and yet another in October. I am so excited- weddings are always a fabulous time! I've often wondered what my wedding dress will look like one day; will I go with all white or ivory, A-line or mermaid, veil or headband?! So many choices- which is why I adore these edgy yet elegant gowns by French designer, Cymbeline.

I love how they break the conventional mold of a dress, while at the same time are tame enough for those not wanting to stray too far from tradition.

I'm curious to know your thoughts! Would you go for these edgier pieces or opt for a tamer, more traditional dress?

Monday Motivation "Predictions"

Another Monday morning already? Geez the weekend goes by fast! Last week one of my favorite blogs, Through The Looking Glass, asked me to write a guest post on my beauty rituals. I was so excited and happy to be a part of her fabulous blog! You can read the post here and be sure to look around her blog if you haven't already! Thank you, Hanako66!

I wanted to start the week off with this hilarious baby gift by Wry Baby. Outside of its fabulous packaging and presentation (I love, love, love package design), each tee is printed with a funny prediction of what your baby will be when they grow up! Among the anticipated careers: Mafia Accountant, Donut Tycoon, and (as seen) Professional Bowler! A mother can only hope, right?! Ha!

I thought that quote was fitting for the lovely packaged gift above! Here's to a great week...xo

Happy Weekend Hollywood Style

Happy weekend everyone! I literally could not wait another second to share this fabulous house with you! It seems like the perfect place to spend a warm summer's night- outdoor movie screen and all!

The 5,800 sq. ft beauty sits atop the famed Hollywood Hills and was designed by Los Angeles architectural firm, Belzberg Architects.

Constructed with completely sustainable and cost-conscious materials, this home boasts minimal modern decor and floor-to-ceiling windows, providing its residents with much more than just a place to rest their head at night!

Oh my goodness, can you just imagine?! Ah! The outdoor movie screen just stole my heart! Love it!

Hope you all have a safe and relaxing couple days off :) xo

A Splash of Color

European company Car Moebel sells some of the most amazing home decor accessories! All of the pieces are so vibrant and add the perfect balance of fun and class. I am completely and wholeheartedly in love with all-white interior spaces, but I have to say, a splash of color can add some much needed dimension and energy!

How fantastic is that pink lamp shade? Just perfect!

I Heart Coffee

You may have already seen this on Facebook, Twitter, etc., but Starbucks is giving away a free pastry this morning until 10:30a with the purchase of any drink! Can I get a hallelujah?! Side note: Did anyone else hear that Starbucks is going to start serving alcohol?! Not sure what to think about this! Anywho, I have no shame in admitting that my day doesn't even begin until I have a grande-iced-soy-sugar-free-vanilla-late in hand, so a free pastry is literally the whip I can't have (it's a dairy thing) on top! *Click here to print your coupon*

To go with your yummy treat and morning coffee, I thought I'd share with you a definite wish list item of mine! How cute is this heart shaped tea set?!

Love it!

Hope everyone has a great day! :) xoxo

Happy Weekend plus Closet Essentials

I can't believe it is Friday already! Is it just me or did this week fly by? Either way, TGIF!

I wanted to end the week with a fun, fashion filled post. Since I have been freelancing as of late, my wardrobe consists of "production black" on shoot days, and jeans, a tank, cardigan and flats on the others. Please don't judge- I can barely stand it myself! Boring! So to get me in the mood for a wardrobe update that I am currently working on, I mustered up a list of 'closet essentials' that I think every girl should own- fashionista or not!

1. LBJ- Starting with the obvious here! Little black dresses are always my friend- casual and fancy alike! I say you can never have too many, but it would be a shame to not have at least one! They are so forgiving and will quickly become your best pal!

2. A pair of daytime jeans and date jeans. I'll admit, I'm a jeans whore, so I have a lot of them, but I honestly only wear about 3 of them and rotate constantly. I would definitely recommend splurging on two good pairs (my choice is 7 For All Mankind)- one pair that is long enough to wear with heels, and another that fit just right to wear with flats while running errands and such.

3. A pair of tailored trousers. Whether you pair them with a cami and a sweater for brunch, or a crisp white shirt for a lunch meeting- tailored trousers will polish off any look. My choice: Stella McCartney or J Crew.

4. A cashmere, cotton, or silk cardigan. These are not your grandmother's sweaters anymore! Most cardigans have made a complete comeback; adding a fun and sometimes even sassy look (try animal prints) to your outfit.

5. A few plain t-shirts and cami's- preferably one in white, black, and tan. Perfect to wear underneath cardigans, sheer tops, or even just to use as a layering piece. Banana Republic always has nice sales on these items!

6. An A-line skirt. The great thing about an A-line skirt is that it will look good on almost every body type. This is such a great piece for the office, dinner dates, etc. While there are some fun patterns out there, I would stick with a simple solid color, like black or grey, because they are the most slimming. But by all means, go with what you are comfortable with!

7. Flashy flats. Okay, they don't have to be bright or vibrant, but flats may be the only item you can wear in patent leather green and still look good doing so! My all time favorites are my small collection of Tory Burch's, but I honestly do not care where they are from! Remember my $7 gold flats from Texas?! I still wear those all the time!

8. Black heels. Whether you are short, tall, super skinny, athletic, or curvy, the black pump will make you look and feel sexier instantly.

9. A handbag and a clutch. When it comes to handbags, my philosophy is "the bigger the better." One of my Gucci's is actually from their diaper bag line because I fell in love with it's size! Regardless, you need a good, sturdy handbag to get you through the day. For the evening time I always switch to a smaller clutch, which I love to get in fun colors!

10. Last but not least, a great rain coat! Even if you're like me and live in SoCal where it barely rains, it is still in your best interest to invest in a really nice coat that will last you through the seasons and protect your precious pieces!

I know I am missing a ton of other great essentials (especially in the accessory department) but I thought I'd keep it to just 10! I honestly could keep redoing this list forever- adding and taking out different things! If you have time, I'd love to read some of your closet essentials as well!

Have a fabulous and safe weekend :) XO

P.S. Don't forget to enter Brunch at Saks Bare Escentuals 'Buxom Betty' Giveaway! It ends this Sunday, July 19th!

Shades of Brown All Around

Let's face it, the color brown has never had the best reputation. It reminds us of some not-so-pretty things in life and it is undoubtedly left untouched in many a Crayola Box around the world. Poor thing! I'll admit, it's no fuchsia, but I honestly feel bad for it because when done correctly, shades of brown in a living space can be so elegant and lovely. Take a look...

{Images: Flickr}

Not so bad, right?!

I recently bought a few brown ruffled pillows at Pier 1 and it gave me an itch to do an entire room in this is oh-so-misunderstood color! Hmm...first crazy wallpapers and now an all brown room?! Maybe I've lost my mind but I am feeling a little daring with my interiors lately!

P.S. Thanks for your sweet comments yesterday! They made my day :)

Summer Glow equals Sun Tanning No-No

Do you ever have one of those days where the "blahs" catch up to you and just do a number on your being?! I am at that point today, and I am trying desperately to get out of this funk. I was searching for some inspiration to post about, but no such luck. Instead, I am going to be a bad blogger and re-post something I wrote on a personal blog that I had for a while. Regular blogging to resume tomorrow.

May 29, 2009

Newsflash: I don't care who you are- if you are still going to tanning beds or putting baby oil on your beautiful delicate skin for a day at the beach just to look like Donatella version 2.0 then you need to Google two words: skin cancer (go ahead, click! Courteous, right?)!

I totally get the need, actually dire need, for the glow. I was a victim of tanning beds and beaches alike for 5 years during my invincible days, and I must admit it was totally worth being tan at prom to now have a lifetime of skin discoloration that requires me to see my dermatologist every two weeks. NOT! If I could pull out a "do-over" card in life, it would be to steer clear of tanning booths and dangerous beach days where I avoided sunscreen like the plague!

Let's all be honest, it's only natural to feel self-conscious about exposing your neglected, ashy, sometimes bluish/purplish (just me?) arms and legs after keeping them in a cave of layers for 8 months during the winter! If you simply can't handle your skin looking like the gorgeous, yet porcelain, Kate Winslet or Nicole Kidman, then you must, I repeat, must save your skin by finding alternative products.

{Images: Sarah Hermans}

Simple to use, healthy products, like Jergens Natural Glow and Bare Minerals A Little Sun All-Over are completely safe to use on your skin and won't break the bank like tanning packages will. Best of all, products like Jergens are gradual tanners, thus leaving you less apt to look like a giant Cheeto and more like the leading, glowing lady that you are! Skin cancer, wrinkles, and discoloration do not discriminate- they will find you any way that they can! Please, please, please think before you tan!

Cray-zay Wallpaper

First and foremost: I want to say a huge thank you to Jacqueline at Alluring Interiors for featuring me in her series entitled 'In Her Shoes' and Aera at Delecatable Swank for interviewing me last week and featuring Brunch at Saks as her 'blog of the week'. You can read them here and here, but more importantly, if you haven't checked out their blogs before, be sure to look around- they are fabulous! Thank you again!

I've blogged about wallpaper before, and how I am always hesitant to take the plunge in plastering my walls with such decor, but lately I cannot get enough of all the crazy wallpaper patterns that keep popping up in magazines, HGTV shows, etc. Here are some of my current faves:

{Images: LivingEtc.}

I love the chocolate brown and blue, although I'm afraid my boyfriend will think I fell off my rocker if I did an entire room like that! What do you think- too much or not enough?!
